Peaceful Youth Garden Program

15 youth ages 14-16 started are participating in this pilot program year to grow produce at the Greenville Community Garden. These dedicated youth are learning about food systems and how to improve access to fresh, healthy produce. Among some of the topics covered are native food sources and how to incorporate those into our landscapes and diets for more sustainable and easily accessed food sources. With support from experienced growers and their own desire to learn and grow produce these youth have encouraged local volunteers to come out to the garden and learn as well.

Thank you to the following sponsors who made this pilot possible

"My experience has been great in this program! My plot has been very successful, I've grown cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes."

"When we did a taste test of grocery store produce vs fresh grown the fresh grown food was way better!"

"I don't see a lot of young people doing good in the community so this program is good because we're doing that."
